For twenty years, Grassy Pavers have provided the pathway to a more ecologically
friendly world. These interlocking honeycomb panels (15” x 20” x 1 ¾”) are made of
recycled polyethylene and are available in both a rigid and a semi-rigid version.
The rigid panels, made of high density polyethylene, are designed to support greater
weight, for example a pumper truck in a fire lane. The semi-rigid panels molded
of low density polyethylene are more suitable for foot or animal traffic. When
these panels are laid over a base of dirt, sand or gravel depending on the application,
their honeycomb shaped cells retain approximately 98% of rainfall from a one inch
per hour rain. This means that a heavy rain will not cause even a steep slope to
erode, or water to wash across a highway.
Grassy Pavers provide a structure which supports the growth of vegetation in high
traffic areas, places with poor soil, or too little sunshine. The honeycomb structure
carries the weight of traffic (human, animal or vehicular) protecting the roots and
base of the plant from compaction and retaining rainwater to nourish it. When filled
with gravel, Grassy Pavers hold the rock securely in place preventing it from washing
away and having to be frequently replaced. Hard surface drives and parking lots
made of solid materials will eventually crack or disintegrate, but installed properly,
Grassy Pavers will require very little maintenance and will never need to be replaced.
Filled with gravel, Grassy Pavers will support over 150,000 lbs/sf at 100° F and
85,000 lbs/sf when filled with topsoil.
Grassy Pavers are a permanent solution to mud problems. Walkways, gateways, jogging
paths, golf cart paths, bike paths and equestrian trails will never have ruts, holes
or mud. With Grassy Pavers, these paths can be used 365 days a year. If they are
covered by snow, cross country skiers will be delighted by these perfect “ski trails.”
Grassy Pavers support and protect the earth, so our desire for “improvements” has
little impact on the environment.
